About Melinda

I have been a therapist in private practice for over 25 years. I received my B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Toronto and my Master's Degree in Applied Psychology from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. I am a Clinical Member of the Ontario and American Associations for Marriage and Family Therapy.

In my work I draw from Jungian and Narrative perspectives, as well as my Native American heritage and Buddhist meditation practice. I have worked in Employee Assistance Programs with brief therapy, in Counselling Services at the University of Guelph, and with the Creative Arts Health Centre in California, trained in music, dance, art, and writing therapy.

I also draw from my experience as a writer, poet and mother. My poems, fiction and essays have appeared widely in print and on CBC radio. I lead groups, workshops and retreats in writing and creative process in Canada and the U.S. I have also designed and facilitated personal growth workshops for many organizations including the Waterloo County Board of Education, University of Guelph and University of Waterloo Counselling Services, York University Continuing Education, Casa de Maria Retreat Centre in California, and the Hillside Music Festival in Guelph.
